A step-by-step Microsoft Word 2016 application user tutorial.

Microsoft Word is the most popular word processing application on the market and is available on platforms such as Windows, Apple MAC and Android. The Microsoft Word application comes bundled in the Microsoft Office Suite (which includes Word, Excel and PowerPoint amongst others) or the stand-alone version can be purchased on its own. For most people the stand-alone Microsoft Word is not a cost effective purchase as it is only marginally less than the Office suite. The main purpose of Microsoft Word is to allow users to type and save documents in a versatile yet easy to use application. Microsoft word has many features and can be used to produce letters, bulk mail, books, leaflets, business cards and several other document related items. This application can produce professional results with little time and effort spent by its users and because of its popularity documents can be shared and opened by almost all other word processing applications such as OpenOffice and AbiWord. The available templates, both built in to the package and downloadable, makes creating specific documents quick and effortless. These templates include professional letters, resumes (Curriculum Vita), package labels, budgets and many more.

This course intends to introduce Microsoft Word 2016 to the novice. It provides a step-by-step guide from starting your Word application, beginning a document and editing the document, up until the point of saving, printing and sharing. It also covers various often used features such as creating tables, inserting pictures and using creative text effects.

Once completed the learner will be able to create, edit, print and share documents. The learner will have a working knowledge of not only Microsoft Word 2016 but also how word processing applications work in general and should be competent enough to easily orientate themselves to use any one of the word processing packages available.

The material covered serves only as a guide and is based on the 2016 version of the Microsoft Office application.

It is worthwhile to also note that this guide, though based on Microsoft Word 2016, can be used as a basis for previous versions of the Word application (e.g. Word 2010 and Word 2013). The layout and appearance of certain features may differ slightly between versions.
